Cracking the Code of Irregular Cycles with AI

For many women, the unpredictability of irregular menstrual cycles is a source of frustration and confusion.

Standard apps and tracking tools often fall short, providing generic predictions that don’t reflect the complexity of real life. But what if artificial intelligence (AI) could crack the code, offering insights and predictions that adapt to your unique rhythm—no matter how irregular it may be?

This is why I have always wanted Sanza to be an AI app.

Inspired by cutting-edge research, we're diving into the world of advanced AI and transforming how women understand and manage their cycles.

Here’s how AI is breaking through where traditional tools have failed.

Irregular cycles aren’t rare—they’re common.

Stress, health conditions like PCOS, lifestyle changes, and even perimenopause can all throw off the timing of a woman’s cycle. For decades, the only solutions were tedious manual tracking or guesswork-based apps that assumed every cycle was “average.”

This one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for the millions of women with irregular patterns.

Artificial intelligence (AI), also known as machine learning, is a technology capable of analyzing vast amounts of data, identifying patterns hidden in chaos, and making highly accurate predictions tailored to the individual.

Recent studies by Prof. Dr. Rosana Rego and Jacinta Odirichukwu have proven that AI can solve problems traditional methods can’t.

By using machine learning models designed to analyze irregular data, these researchers have shown that AI can reliably predict menstrual cycles and ovulation days—even in cases where no clear patterns exist.

Dr. Rego’s team used advanced AI models like LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) networks and ARIMA to predict cycle length and timing. These models are ideal for analyzing evolving data sequences. What makes them special is that they can adapt to irregularities in your data, identifying trends that might not be obvious even to a human expert.

Odirichukwu’s research focused on Decision Tree models, which excel at finding the most important variables in a dataset. With an accuracy score of 98.64%, her team demonstrated that AI could pinpoint ovulation days even in irregular cycles, providing a level of precision far beyond what typical apps can achieve.

The magic of AI lies in its ability to turn complex, seemingly random data into actionable insights.

Personalized Patterns: AI adapts to your unique cycle, analyzing historical data to predict what’s next. It doesn’t assume you’re “average”; it learns you.

Predicting Irregularities: Traditional trackers rely on fixed algorithms, but AI uses flexible models that account for variability. Whether your cycle shifts due to stress or medical factors, the predictions stay accurate.

Handling the Unknown: By training on synthetic and real-world datasets, AI can predict not just regular patterns but also outliers, making it ideal for irregular cycles.

For women with irregular cycles, these advancements represent a breakthrough.

Whether you’re trying to conceive, manage health conditions, or plan your life better, AI offers tools that make the process easier, more accurate, and less stressful.

At Sanza, we knew that AI would be the key to solving these challenges. Inspired by Rego and Odirichukwu's research, we set out to create a platform that could go beyond static tracking tools. Sanza will use AI to analyze, adapt, and deliver predictions that feel tailored to each user.

Our mission isn’t just about tracking—it’s about helping women take control of their health with tools they can trust. We believe in building practical AI that works for you, solving real problems, and simplifying life.

The possibilities are endless. With AI, we can move from a one-size-fits-all approach to truly personalized healthcare solutions. For women with irregular cycles, this means gaining insights that were once impossible to access.

If you’ve ever felt let down by existing solutions, know that we’re here to offer something better: AI that learns from you and works for you.
